As part of the unit on biodiversity in an introductory course, we talked about protists. Class began with a brief lecture, and then students were given a blank version of the protist comparison chart. Pairs of students were assigned two rows to fill in together. Using laptops or smartphones, they identified the taxon using the clue, and then found the information to fill in the rest of the table. They then exchanged answers with another nearby group, and the entire class reviewed the full table together.
